The houseboat was exactly what was shown in the photos, which honestly surprised us. Our driver Bashir waited an extra hour at Betaab Valley because we lost track of time and never once made us feel rushed.
We are based on Churat Road in Shimla — not in a metro office booking hill stations from a screen.
Our story
The Travel Tribes began in 2016 with a single vehicle and a stubborn idea: that the person selling you a Himalayan holiday should have driven the road themselves. Our first bookings were winter Spiti runs that larger agencies turned down because the Kunzum route was shut and only the Shimla road stayed open.
Ten years on, we run 82 packages across 10 Indian states and 4 international destinations. What has not changed is who plans them. Every itinerary on this site was written by someone on our team who has been there, usually more than once, usually in the off-season when things go wrong and you learn what actually matters.
We are registered with Himachal Pradesh Tourism, we issue GST invoices, and you can walk into our Shimla office and speak to the person who planned your trip.
How we work
Registered with Himachal Pradesh Tourism. Written itineraries, GST invoices and a company you can walk into on Churat Road.
Our team drives these routes off-season too. That is why we know which road shuts in February and which hotel actually has the view.
We contract hotels and transport ourselves. No aggregator commission sitting quietly inside your quote.
You get a named trip manager on WhatsApp from the first quote until you are home. Not a rotating support queue.
Sedans for the plains, SUVs for Spiti and Ladakh, tempo travellers for groups. Every driver is a hill specialist.
Honeymoon, senior citizens, corporate offsites, school groups, solo travellers. The itinerary bends to fit the people on it.
The process
Dates, rough budget, who is travelling and what you actually want out of the trip. A WhatsApp message is enough — you do not need a finished plan.
Day by day, with named hotels, vehicle type, inclusions and a final price. Usually within three working hours. Revise it as many times as you like.
We book hotels and transport in writing and send you the vouchers. Balance is due seven days before departure. GST invoice always.
Your trip manager is reachable throughout. Flight delayed, road blocked, hotel not as promised — one message and we fix it from Shimla.
In their words
The houseboat was exactly what was shown in the photos, which honestly surprised us. Our driver Bashir waited an extra hour at Betaab Valley because we lost track of time and never once made us feel rushed.
Did winter Spiti in January when three other agencies told me the route was closed. Travel Tribes had a driver who does this road all season. Komic homestay at minus 15 with a bukhari going is something I will not forget.
Visa, flights, transfers, everything came in one PDF two weeks before we flew. The private long-tail to Maya Bay before the crowds arrived was worth the early start.
Travelling with a seven-year-old and my parents, so I was worried about the ferries. Every cruise ticket was already booked and printed. Not one queue in six days.
Nine days, five passes, one oxygen scare at Sarchu that the team handled calmly. The acclimatisation day they insisted on is the reason the rest of the trip went well.
The upper-deck houseboat at Alleppey was a proper upgrade over the ones parked at the main jetty. Munnar hotel had the valley view they promised, not a parking lot.
Our Shimla office is open Monday to Saturday. Walk in, call, or send a message — whichever is easiest.
Send the details and we reply with a written itinerary and final quote, usually within 3 working hours.
